Revive Your Holiday Spirit: Tips to Skip the Burnout this Season

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can pull you out of your usual routine and leave your feeling sluggish. This winter, practice some self-care and recovery. Here are 5 simple things you can do to skip the holiday burnout this year.

  1. Stay Hydrated - water will help you digest those holiday foods and deliver nutrients to your cells. Make sure you are drinking enough water. To calculate your water intake, take your body weight, divide by 2, that is how many ounces of water you should drink per day.

  2. Eat Your Veggies - Instead of restricting foods and skipping meals to make room for those holiday treats, how about adding in those veggies. Vegetables are full of fiber that your body needs for digestion.

  3. Move Your Body - Cold weather and hearty meals can make you feel extra sluggish. Try to get some sort of movement in each day. Go for a walk outside, or make sure you don’t miss your 15 minute workout

  4. Take Time to Slow Down - Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Whether you like to meditate, read, be in nature, or get a massage. Take some quiet time to reflect and be mindful. (Linda has a great app recommendation for this, check it out in Our Trainers Favorite Fitness Resources.

  5. Get Some Sleep - Late night parties and holiday festivities can be exhausting. Make sure you are getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. (NOTE: Alcohol can greatly effect your sleeping habits. Limit alcohol)
