Julie Cohen

Julie is one of Ann’s first clients and has seen amazing results in just over a year of training.  She began working with us after listening to Shaun speak and winning the drawing Shaun offered at the event.  She felt what she spoke about made sense and was eager to give it a try.

Julie has spent her life, beginning at a very young age, overweight.  Although she has a very confident personality, and is successful in business, she has always referred to herself as “the fat girl”.  This time, with a different approach, she has changed her mind set and has obtained remarkable results.  In the first 8 months of training (twice weekly for 3 months, once weekly for the next 5 due to working out of town) she was able to lose 80 lbs., dropping in size from a 24 to a 10/12 pants.  In January she gained custody of 3 & 4 yr. old boys and has become even busier, but still managed to maintain her weight loss.  She has chosen to not completely cut any foods from her diet but make better choices and eat the high calorie foods much more sparingly, and fill up on the healthier choices more often.

Before working out at the Exercise Institute I had done the “gym thing” many times with no success. I have always just been the tall skinny guy and have had little to no success at the gym, so I decided it couldn’t hurt to try the Exercise Institute for 6 months. I was very skeptical to say the least when I first heard about their workout plan of only 15 minutes a day twice a week. Well, thanks to the most amazing trainer (Shaun) at the Liberty Lake office guiding me and pushing me every step of the way, after 10 months I had gained around 20 lbs of muscle. I am now on the new Edge program so I can attempt at a six pack by summer and in the 3 weeks that I have been on it have lost 4 percent body fat! I love the workout atmosphere of the Exercise Institute and do not foresee myself ever going back to the normal gym atmosphere. Not only do I have a GREAT trainer at the Exercise Institute, I have developed an even better friend. Here’s to seeing the results of what another year will bring!

Mirus, the Latin word for wonderful, extraordinary, that’s what I call the Exercise Institute. Life changing is another. My name is Tina; I’m 43 years old, a wife, mother, grandmother, and devotee of the 15 minute workout. I always thought that my body served me well, I play volleyball, softball, ride my snowmobiles and dirt bikes, I started snowboarding, but now that I started the Institute, it is amazing. My serving has improved; I can move quicker, I stood up on my snowboard without turning over and pushed myself up! I just donated three bags of clothes that don’t fit because they are too big.
 
Seven years ago my family dealt with a family member who had cancer. In the first six weeks of the hospital stay I gained 28 pounds. I didn’t know where it came from, I thought I did everything right, walked the stairs, packed my lunches, drank water. In the years after, I tried different ways to lose weight but nothing seemed to work for me. I thought maybe this was the weight my body thought it should be at. A friend, who is much younger and already in shape, told me about this workout she was doing. I was intrigued; I loved lifting weights in my younger years, but, could this help me lose the weight I thought I needed to lose?
 
I am so thankful that I took that first step. I feel wonderful! I’m stronger, stand taller, and more mindful of the of the fuel I put into my body. I’m not perfect; I have my bad eating days but the good out weighs the bad. I view my body much differently: I want to put good things into it to keep it working for me. I love the feeling after my workouts. My muscles don’t feel “shredded” like they did when I lifted free weights, they feel used and strong. I am building muscle and losing fat! I’ve lost over 20 pounds since October 2009, I can see and feel the muscle definition.
 
I know that finding a program that works for you comes from within, but having Shaun, my trainer at the Exercise Institute, has made this journey so astounding. Shaun has a wonderful attitude and quiet demeanor that makes you feel so comfortable. Shaun’s encouragement keeps me going, even on the days the scale doesn’t show my dedication. I can text or call Shaun with any question and she is always there. Shaun has helped me with an eating plan that is now part of my life, not a diet. My workouts are always new, I don’t walk in and do the same routine, and there always Shaun with her quiet but firm encouragement. She will push me to the limit, help me when I fail, lift me up when I fall, and high five me and do the happy dance when I succeed! I am so glad Shaun has been part of my fitness goals and will be there to keep me going throughout this journey.

Rick is a 57 year old client who has been training with us for the past 3 months at our Riverstone location. He has seen fantastic results in his health and has graciously allowed us to share his story.
 
Rick suffers from a condition similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis. The unique quality with his condition is that it specifically affects his back and pelvis the most, but the degenerative quality does affect all of his ligaments. He has been suffering from this painful condition since his diagnosis at the age of only 25. This condition has caused severe pain and numerous surgeries to replace ligaments in joints. Upon diagnosis, he was informed that exercise was going to be the answer in keeping himself going for as long as possible and the more intense, the better. This worked well for many years until the numerous surgeries and ligament replacements /repairs caused injuries during intense exercise. This made it impossible to continue his exercise regimen and Rick became very discouraged and the pain intensified.
 
Originally Rick’s wife, a massage therapist, learned of the Exercise Institute. She began training and within the first month Rick noticed a huge improvement in her posture, strength, her feeling better, and getting stronger. She encouraged him to try it, and after seeing her great results and learning about it, he thought it might actually be something he could do with his physical limitations.
 
He began training and within 2 weeks he began noticing a difference. He was able to stand longer at work with less pain! Within a month his sleep pattern went from sleeping 1-1 ½ hrs at a time to only waking up 1 time during the night. What an improvement!! He still wakes up sore in the morning but the pain is much less.
 
Rick appreciates the watchful eye that is constantly on him while he is training. This decreases his risk of injury, which is so important to continued success. He has made so much progress and we are looking forward to tracking and reporting his continued progress and then sharing it with you!

In July of 2010 I had a 14 month old son, working full time and was trying desperately to lose the rest of my baby weight. I was depressed every morning putting on my work clothes that either didn’t fit or I didn’t feel comfortable in. I began training with Mike and within 2 months I started gaining energy and by 6 months I was noticing a huge difference both in the way I felt and looked. I was working out twice a week for 15 minutes, watching my portions, gaining strength and losing weight. I’ve now been training for 11 months and have gone from 137 pounds to 108 pounds. I’ve always had a slim build but my friends are noticing that I now look fit and in shape. This program works wonderfully for me. I am 5’ 4” and when I delivered my beautiful son I was 174lbs., yesterday weighed in at 108. I now look forward to my workouts that I am able to work into my extremely hectic schedule.

I began training at The Exercise Institute in December of 2009. At that time I thought I was six months from the end because I was so physically out of shape. I would run out of breath walking one flight of stairs. I was taking two naps daily and it was work to even get out of bed. I had very little motivation to do anything because I was so physically out of shape. Within a couple of weeks I noticed my emotional well-being had improved significantly. I began to look forward to the work-outs. Now I hate to miss even one session with my trainer.
 
The Exercise Institute gives you a measure of what you can do. I enjoy challenging myself during my work-outs and feel safe doing so because I know my trainer is paying close attention to me. I convey any discomfort I have to my trainer and allow her to decide how hard to push me. It is rewarding to reach inside my head and force myself to keep on going with her encouragement. Completing the work-out gives me a sense of accomplishment and I feel better emotionally immediately and physically (after about 30 minutes after completion of work-out).
 
After only one or two months of training I saw improvements in my physical health which helps my mental health. I arrive a couple minutes early for my work-outs to mentally prepare myself and check on my hydration and body composition measures using The Edge program. I have benefited through my involvement in The Exercise Institute and grown mentally and physically. It is so little time to give up for the benefits you receive.
 
As a business owner, I understand the value of time. Membership with the Exercise Institute helps me obtain great fitness results in just ½ hour per week. My personal trainer at Exercise Institute gives close attention to my fitness goals. Within the first weeks I noticed increases in strength and energy. I began training in September of 2009 and I continue to improve. I’m in better shape now that I have been in 20+ years.
 
I recommend Exercise Institute to anyone looking for great fitness results without spending a lot of time.
